What You Will Learn

This certification includes four core learning streams, each rooted in classical Ayurveda and taught through practical, hands-on experience.

Abhyanga

Abhy is Sanskrit for massage. Yanga is Sanskrit for limbs.

Two handed and four handed warm oil bodywork

Abhyanga is the ancient art of anointing the full body with warm oil that has been infused with healing herbs and balancing essential oils. It is one of the most nourishing, grounding, and restorative practices in all of Ayurveda.

In Ayurveda, Abhyanga supports relaxation of the muscles and calming of the nervous system. When offered with intention, presence, and rhythmic touch, it becomes a powerful holistic healing modality that works on both the physical and subtle levels.

The act of anointing the body with warm herbal oil is called snehana. The Sanskrit word sneha means both oil and love, reminding us that when we oil the body, we are also offering love. The qualities of regular snehana mirror what it feels like to be deeply loved, to love yourself, and to love another — strength, stability, openness, and warmth.

During the training you will learn

  • A complete two handed Abhyanga inspired sequence

  • An introduction to four handed Abhyanga

  • Rhythm, synchrony, and intuitive flow

  • Warm oil methods that quiet the mind and nourish the tissues

  • How to tailor touch and pace to Vata, Pitta, and Kapha

  • How to hold space so your sessions feel like ceremony rather than massage

Abhyanga teaches the body how to soften, receive, and rest. You will both give and receive the work so your touch becomes confident, steady, and deeply intuitive.

The ancient Ayurvedic text Astanga Hridaya describes the many benefits of Abhyanga. These include

  • Improved sleep

  • Nourishment of the tissues

  • Longevity and vitality

  • Better eyesight

  • Sturdiness and stability of the body

  • Prevention and correction of nervous system disorders

  • Reduction of fatigue

  • Support through the aging process

  • Detoxification of the body

Shirodhara

Shiro means head. Dhara means pour.
Together they create an unparalleled experience of rest.

Benefits of Shirodhara

  • Deep release of mental tension

  • Stillness of the mind

  • Clarity and improved cognitive function

  • Mood stability

  • Better stress tolerance

  • A deep sense of peace

The ultimate therapy for deep relaxation and nervous system reset

A warm stream of herb infused oil flows across the third eye, calming the mind, soothing the senses, and creating profound inner stillness.

During the training you will learn

  • Full set up and safe delivery of Shirodhara

  • Temperature, rhythm, and flow technique

  • Marma Chikitsa for head, face, and neck

  • Kansa Wand techniques for energetic balance and gentle detoxification

  • Contraindications, safety considerations, and session structure

You will also experience a full Shirodhara yourself so your body understands what your hands will later create.

Swedana

Steam therapy for detoxification, relaxation, and deeper healing

Using a traditional steam tent, you will learn how to offer Swedana as a stand alone therapy or combined with Abhyanga for a more profound therapeutic effect.

You will learn

  • Safe steam tent set up

  • How to warm and regulate heat for doshas and conditions

  • How Swedana supports lymphatic flow, circulation, and detoxification

  • How to pair Swedana with Abhyanga and Shirodhara for a full Bliss Therapy session
